For over three decades, Fête de la Musique Philippines, presented by Alliance Française de Manille alongside its partners, has been a cornerstone of the Philippine music calendar, offering free live music performances across various stages and genres.
Under its theme, "Accelerating action and mobilising all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean," the conference aims to advance Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14). It will feature plenary sessions and ten thematic "Ocean Action Panels”, addressing key marine environment challenges such as marine pollution, sustainable fisheries and blue economy solutions.
Our first edition in 2024, showcased seven films from France, Bangladesh, and India. Most of the films premiered for the first time in Bangladesh. This year’s festival continues its mission of connecting local narratives with global perspectives.
In the Philippines, what began as a single-venue event with a mere 40 attendees in 1994 has grown by leaps and bounds into a multi-stage, multi-genre, and multi-day celebration. Fête PH has become a platform for both established and up-and-coming Filipino artists to share their music with a growing audience.
Traditionally, the celebration is open to everyone, from amateur musicians to professional bands, in streets, parks, and public spaces all over France. Musicians are invited to perform live music for free to showcase their talents, connect with their community, and inspire others to discover the joy of music.
It celebrated not only the artists and music from various parts of the Philippines but also the natural beauty and rich culture of some of the country’s most popular destinations including Siargao, Cebu, El Nido, Baguio, Pampanga, Albay, Caloocan, Laguna, Tagaytay, Zambales and Metro Manila.
“In spite of all our differences, music - just like the oceans - connects us humans with each other,” says Xavier Leroux, Executive Director of Alliançe Française de Manille.
