France was one of the conflict's main battlefields. Despite the heroic efforts of the French Resistance, such as those led by Jean Moulin and General de Gaulle, Nazi Germany occupied France for four years, from 1940 to 1944.
That's why, in July, as it will be Bastille Day in France, TV5MONDE is offering history lovers a 1939-1945 theme to remember the lessons of the past and the key events of this dark period.
